What are You Doing New Year's ... New Year's Eve?

We're staying home, warm and cozy ... with a fire in the wood stove, feline companions, and the Christmas lights on!   It's COLD here in Minnesnowta!

Not only is it New Year's Eve today, it's also my and my husband's wedding anniversary!   It's kind of a special one; it's our 31st anniversary on December 31st.  I looked all over the internet to see if there was a name for this anniversary, like a 'golden birthday' is celebrated when a person is the same age as the date.  Although I couldn't find any official name, my friend Kathleen came up with a great one ... a ROYAL anniversary!  That sounds perfect to me. Now where is my tiara .....?    It's hard to believe that it's been 31 years since these young kids who didn't even know each other said "I Do."  Now we're just two old fogies who don't want to go out in the cold!

Of course, lots of people love to go out and ring in the New Year in style.  Music, dancing, good times with good friends, fancy duds and bling, and watching that glittery ball drop down at midnight. I've been thinking of fancy and bling and glittery lately too, but in the jewelry sense, naturally.  As you may know, I belong to a group (BSue Boutiques Creative Group) online that has monthly jewelry creation challenges, and the theme for December was "metallic, pearl, and crystal."   That theme is my favorite, so I dug out some pretties and jumped right in.

Two of the classic-looking necklaces are awaiting some dangles, and I'll share them soon.  This one, I must show you today, since it's kind of time-sensitive.   I LOVE how it turned out!  I call it "What are You Doing New Year's Eve" ... and just like the song, to me it tells the story of almost midnight on New Year's Eve and love.  What story does it tell you ....?

The new year will bring many new things for Novegatti Designs, among them a major challenge/master class for me, and of course new designs for you!  Wishing everyone the best and happiest New Year you've ever had, and leaving you with this song ...   See you next year!

Merry Christmas!

I've always loved Christmas and the whole holiday season.  The trees (yes, plural) are put up and decorated before Thanksgiving, and every window and doorway is bedecked with garlands and lights.

The spirituality of celebrating Jesus' birthday is foremost at Christmas, of course.  The sharing is the fun part ... Handmade candies, cookies, and gifts ... the wrapping and card writing  ... are all a part of the excitement and joy of the holiday season.

The lights and ornaments of the season are my favorite .... maybe the shiny bright things remind me so much of jewelry!  The proud Christmas trees wear their holiday finery, and inspire me to create designs that are both natural and 'blingy,' just like them.

The holiday season will soon be over, and it'll be time for change.  The decorations will come down, and the house readied for spring.  In the same way, my worktable will soon be cleared of winter and holiday jewelry components, and readied for new and fun designs.  I'll be participating in a 3-month-long jewelry challenge (really more of a class) to build a new line starting in January.  More on that soon, but I think it truly will challenge me in many ways ... good ways.  It's exciting and scary at the same time, and I'll bring you all along on the journey as I go!

I and my feline assistant Toby (who fell asleep wearing his holiday best) wish all of our friends a very Merry Christmas from Novegatti Designs!

An Introduction

Welcome to Novegatti Designs, a magical place where original art jewelry is created!  I've been interested in pretty jewels since I was very young ... and now it's a dream-come-true that I can make beautiful things too.  I've been designing and making art jewelry from brass, polymer clay, glass beads, and other goodies for about 15 years now, and I never get tired of it!

As a child, I used to cut out the paper jewelry and gem images from mail-order catalogs, and Scotch-tape them to my ears and fingers for my own custom jewelry.  I like to think I've come a long way since then ....

I'm inspired by many things in my creations .... classic designers for one, like Miriam Haskell.  The above brooch was inspired by her wonderful line of jewelry. Nature is also a recurrent theme in my jewelry, and you'll often see floral designs in my work.

In any handmade business, the help and support of other artists is invaluable.   That support and much inspiration comes from a jewelry group that I belong to on Facebook.   The 'gang' at the B'Sue Boutiques Creative Group
( www.facebook.com/bsueboutiquescreativegroup ) are never-ending sources of friendly help, ideas, and encouragement.  My work has grown and evolved greatly through being a part of this group.

Of course, the support and kind comments and encouragement from friends and family are most important to me.  I couldn't do it without all of you cheering me on every step of the way!  Every little 'Like' or comment on my Facebook page or lovely remark in person brings a big smile to my face, and the encouragement to keep going and make more pretties!  My feline assistants and I appreciate it more than you know.

Keep an eye on my Facebook page ( www.facebook.com/NovegattiDesigns ) for continuing new designs .... Christmas/winter necklaces coming very soon!

Wishing you a blessed Christmas season,

Pamela
